2010-2011 - Instructor - History of the Blues
- Develop and present course work to examine the historical context of blues music through its roots in slavery, the rich culture of the Mississippi Delta, and through the migration of African Americans north to Chicago.
- Encourage students to explore the personal and culturally endogenous aspects of this style of music.
2003-Present - Instructor - Jazz Piano
- Acquaint and nurture students to the fundamentals of jazz piano through singing and transcription of jazz solos, study of scales and modes, and creation of a jazz repertoire.
- Support students throughout the creative process and allow them the flexibility to explore and experience their individual styles and preferences.
1999-Present - Instructor - Funk-Fusion Music Ensemble
- Coordinate the musical repertoire for 8-12 students in a variety of musical genres including rock, jazz, blues, folk, Motown, country, and contemporary pop.
- Lead group rehearsals, listen to a variety of arrangements, and bring students together to develop their ability to recognize common chord progressions.
- Arrange compositions to fit the instrumentation within the ensemble and adapt each semester’s work to the interests and talents of the students.
2010-2011 - Instructor- Songwriting
- Through studying the techniques that proven songwriters use, students will learn the fundamentals in the art of songwriting. Class discussions and projects will focus on jazz standards, rock and roll, blues and popular songs of today. Artists such as the Beatles will be examined to see what makes a song a hit.

- Served as pianist on numerous recordings and tours with blues legends, including Otis Rush, B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Big Mama Thorton, Jimmy Rodgers, Big Walter Horton, Hubert Sumlin, Big Joe Turner, and Memphis Slim, “Blues Brother” with Dan Akyroyd, John Goodman, and James Belushi.
1978-Present - Pianist - World Tours
- Extensive world tour experience at the most prestigious jazz and blues festivals in the U.S., Canada, Europe, South America, Australia, the Middle East, and New Zealand.
- Festivals include The Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Free Jazz (Rio De Janeiro & San Paulo, Brazil), North Sea Jazz Festival (The Netherlands), Newport Rhythm and Blues Festival (Newport, RI), Festa Do Avante (Lisboa, Portugal), and Zouk Mikael Festival (Beirut, Lebanon).
